The Rejection Letter

Well, I have to say that I did have high hopes, I knew better, but I still felt that I had a chance. I guess it is this ability to hope that keeps me going. I will not stop because I know that someone out there will see what I see. They will love my characters as much as I do and they will want others to come to know them as I know them. I will continue to put forth the effort to get my book published. One letter saying 'No' is not going to stop me. I have a dream and I will not stop until I know that I have done everything within my power to see that my dream comes true. After all, isn't that what legacies are made of-the dream that  could not be given up?

Above, you will see the official rejection letter from Arthur A. Levine. The words read:

Dear Author:

Thank you for sending your manuscript to Arthur A. Levine Books. We read it with interest but, unfortunatly, the manuscript doesn't seem quite right for our list. We appreciate the opportunity to consider the project, however, and we wish you luck in finding the right publisher for your work.

All the best,

Arthur A. Levine Books
Editorial

Depressing huh? I look at it as just one step closer to the 'YES' that I so desperately seek. Wish me luck.

The Butterflies and the Bees

I found myself going through some old pictures last night and it turns out, I have taken some really cool ones.
Does anyone get nostalgic when they see a butterfly flitting about from flower to flower? Do you tend to get lost in their beauty as they lithely land and flutter their wings from orange to black?
I find that no matter how old I get, nature never ceases to amaze me. I love to watch any of God's creations here on our glorious planet. It brings a lightness to my heart and a smile to my face to see the wonderment of it all.
I make my boys endure long moments of just sitting and watching the moon some nights when we are camping. I make them follow me as I take pictures of butterflies and bees and anything else I can train my lens upon. I make them sit and listen to the rain as it tinks down on the roof and windows. I wake them up early on a winter's morning to go and take pictures of the ice as it coats the branches of the trees by the river.
As luck would have it, my boys enjoy nature as much as I do. Their bubbly laughter is like a drug as they try to catch the things that God built. The two of them run in the house and get me to come outside whenever they spy a Catface Spider building its web so that it may catch its next meal.
I am thankful God has given me the gift of sight and I pray that he never feels the need to take it away.
These pictures were taken right outside my house. It was the end of the season and the butterfly bushes were on their way out for the winter. It was as if the butterflies needed to drink up every last drop of their remaining nectar. They were everywhere on that cool fall evening and I relished in all their splendor.
The butterfly bushes didn't come back last spring, I think I will be re-planting them!
The bees were there too!

Lovely, aren't they?

Guess What I am Doing!!!

I am so excited! I can't hardly contain myself! I am doing it...
"What," you ask??
This...

It is book 2 in the Secret World of Crenna series and it is turning out to be a glorious thing! I have only just finished chapter 2, but it is going to be a masterpiece! It has me all giddy inside! I want to run outside and jump around in the snow! (Not really, it looks COLD out there!)
I feel so complete when I am writing, I just can't explain the feeling that it gives me. I was having trouble thinking what the plot to my second book was going to be, but then it came to me. As I lay in my bed tossing and turning until three in the morning, I figured it out! I figured it out and it is a grand idea!
I am sure there are those of you reading this right now that are completely convinced that I have LOST MY MIND, but on the contrary, I have found it and it is AMAZING! To escape into the world that I create and make it make sense is incredible! (I know, I am using the ! a little excessively, but my heart is pounding!)
If you think book 1 was good, wait 'til I finish book 2! Oh yeah, not many of you have read book 1 yet, but I am confident that someone out there is going to want to put it in a nice print in a nice cover and make it available to all of you! This, I am quite certain of!
OK, OK, enough with the !
I just had to write to you all and tell you of my recent discovery, as I lay in my bed, tossing and turning 'til three in the morning.

I bet you are wondering, "NOW WHY DON'T SHE WRITE?"

Well, the answer is...

This is taking up most of my time these days. I have submitted the first two chapters, the query letter, and the synopsis to the publisher!

The truth is...

I have been writing-and reading.

And... correcting.

Do you see those yellow and black marks? They are throughout the 149 pages of this thing that I have created that I just can't stop obsessing over!
Oh, how I hope with every ounce of my being that some publisher out there will find my work to be something that they want to take a chance on. My lifelong dream...
to be a writer, not only a writer, because I have accomplished that. If you have doubts, see the previous photos. The ultimate goal for me is to be a PUBLISHED writer! This is the goal! Oh, how I long to write and have others take enjoment from the words I scribe on paper. This is the thing I strive for the most, this is what I want out of life.
I have felt for many years that I have not been doing what I am supposed to do. Something was always missing, no matter what job I had or what career I was destined for. I had my ultimate dream job, and still, I felt as if something were missing.
Well, I figured out what it is! It is putting words on paper and making them make sense and creating a story that others may someday enjoy! It is bringing life to characters that have, up until now, only resided in my head. It is being able to dream and take comfort in the dream. It is reading this story to my boys and having them beg to hear more. It is being able to put life back into my life.
Oh, I plan to take this as far as I possibly can, if only to dream a little dream. Wish me luck!

Ahhh, Back to Normal!!

Oh, Christmas is over and I am so glad that my house once again looks like this...

I do love the Holidays, but I love it when my house is all clean and back to pre-holiday normalcy. OK, OK, I know, I have jewelry making items in the kitchen, but it is still a whole lot better than it was and those boxes are so much easier to put away. I so love my house!!

Aren't We Special...

While decorating the house for Christmas this year, Brinson and Cache got to experience something very special...

They got to drink this yummy Sparkling Grape Juice Cocktail from my very special Christmas wine glasses! They thought they were the most special kids for that small moment in time and you can see it...

By the look on their little faces and the glimmer in their little eyes!
It was fun to give them this special moment. They drank the whole bottle and they enjoyed every sweet drop of it!
A toast... to the happy little boys in my life! Oh, how I love them both and hold them in the clutches of my heart, entwined there for the remainder of my life!
